It depends a bit which season you plan to travel in, and which region you plan to travel in. I have seen accomodation cost more in the summer season, and a bit less in other seasons. And different regions have different pricing standards: Eastern Europe is less expensive than Scandanavia, for example. I think you should sit down and plan out the places you want to visit, and research on-line where you may like to stay.
