In Copenhagen

Copenhagen Building from 1755Sitting at a café one day, I noticed “1755” written on a building across the street.

It’s incredible to think that I am sitting amongst buildings older than my country.

Outside this building, like all others in the city center, bicycles are parked. The environmentally-friendly culture in Copenhagen is noteworthy. Bicycle lanes are prevalent, clearly marked, and nearly as large as car lanes.

Nearly every resident has one, not only for themselves, but also for their babies and wheelbarrows. Recycling containers are everywhere. And windmills can be seen throughout Denmark, as I saw when riding through the countryside by train.

It’s no wonder that Copenhagen will host the International Climate Change summit this December, and no wonder that the city is being written about for it’s environmental drive.
