I meet Lillian, a 72 year-old Swedish woman who, for the past 10 years with her husband and friends, has been collecting data on 260,000 Swedish people through 52 parishes.
They have amassed all of the data into a computer program that she plans to re-produce and market in the next year. But on this day, she is all too happy to test my family tree with her program. And she meets with great results — finding and introducing me to a branch of the family that stayed in Sweden after others had immigrated to America.
Falkoping (see Wikipedia) is a small town, but for me it was a big adventure, finding the farm where my great-great-great parents lived in the 1800s.
