Dortmund to Freiburg

WonderlampTrain Tip: My new favorite things are the Deutsche Bahn ticket machines that do all the route-planning for you.

These machines are in most stations in Germany and Austria, and look like regular ticket machines. You can select your language, travel day and destination, and the machine will calculate the best-route for you. And many of the machines allow you to print the schedules.

I don’t know why I haven’t used these machines before, perhaps because I haven’t seen them in all countries. Alternately, you can also access most of the same information on the Deutsche Bahn website (www.bahn.de), probably the best website for European train schedules.

The machine connects me through Mannheim, on time. Just consider printing a back-up schedule, in case any of your connecting trains are late.
