Budapest to Bojnice Castle

Travel date: Thursday, May 8th, 2008

I’m trying to make the point of seeing smaller Eastern European towns as well as big cities. For this reason, I’m heading towards Prievidza, Slovakia. And really, it can’t get much smaller than Prievidza, Slovakia.

But there’s a big event at Bojnice Castle, the largest event of the year in the most visited museum in Slovakia! Still though, it can’t get much smaller than Prievidza, Slovakia.

My train connection goes from Budapest to Bratislava, and because it’s a holiday in Slovakia, I wait an extra hour for a train connection because the trains are on a reduced holiday schedule. (Beware the roaming Springtime holidays in Eastern Europe. Each country seems to have it’s own long weekends of National Days and Saint Days.) Two older men cross themselves as the train departs Bratislava.
